Working after retirement

Internet

I have been pondering getting into the dating game. Apparently many people make good money by setting up dating sites. No, you don't have to do all the work. There are plenty of companies out there who will let you get your own domain name and they will set up a site for you. So I am trying out one. So far I have set these sites up:

Many small business owners are utilizing the social networking website, LinkedIn, to demonstrate their professional or business expertise.  LinkedIn is used world-wide by millions of business professionals to advertise their individual professional profiles and/or businesses.  Members create their own profiles and then make "connections” to develop networks of business professionals with common interests.  Since its inception the features of LinkedIn have grown.  LinkedIn includes a query section where various questions are posted by members and ...

Will the latest Google search engine changes affect your site?

A few months ago Google announced they were making a drastic change in the way they indexed web pages. They were hunting for "bad" sites with little or no original content. Last month (Feb, 2011) Google again announced a change, this one a major change. This time they said that over 12% of all searches would be affected. The document explaining this is long ...

So I have am issue I wanted to share. I, and one of my most valued clients run multiple websites. To drive traffic using hundreds of keywords. Anyway, the point is that a portfolio of websites acts as one humongous site in my opinion. You could spend a lot of time and money developing one huge website with thousands of pages - and that's ok. However, if that website gets penalized in Google - and ...

I use search engines all day. Google isn't the only game in town, although it is capturing 67% of all Internet searches. The bulk of the rest is through Bing and Yahoo although they tend to use the same database. I often search both Bing and Google to find stuff and to analyze keywords. So to save me some time I built a cool little dual search engine. Here you can safely search both Google ...

I am sure you have read that the sale of domain names is a hot market. Sex.com sold for over $11 million dollars. Income.com is currently being negotiated in the range of over 1 million bucks. There are a number of well known domainers (people buying, monetizing and selling domain names) out there having made millions. Is it still a good investment today? Indeed it is.

A domain name is the branding or address ...

I often get asked by people who already have websites how they can make some money from it. Here's the simple version.

The easiest way is to go to www.google.com/adsense and sign up for their ad delivery program. That is what you see on this site above this blog. When people click on the ads - you make money. Not much, but some. It is getting more and more difficult to qualify ...

The latest prediction out of Borrell Associates is that total online advertising spending in the U.S. will grow nearly 14% in 2011. The most significant growth in local online advertising. They expect the year after to grow by 18%. To over 16 billion dollars. That's only in the U.S.

This is good news.

Point here is to start focusing on local content. If you are promoting a local service - you are ...

Your small business needs a steady stream of potential clients. No matter what it is. My brother has a side-line every winter removing snow from commercial buildings. He has a one-page website that is visible using the search terms we set up. In the fall he gets plenty of leads. He also goes around to the buildings an sell his services. It takes work.

Anyway, that wasn't what I wanted to touch on.

How can I get more clients from my web site? Most web sites don’t produce any clients at all. This is especially true for professional services firms, such as accountants and consultants. Why? Simply because many sites do not meet the visitor’s wants. Or needs. People just don’t care much for web advertising, they want more beef. Web surfers go to the web to learn something new, something valuable they can use right away. ...
