Working after retirement

The other day I wondered what I would do if someone came and said that the income I now have from my internet business will be guaranteed for life and they would take my computers away. Like someone retiring from the job they enjoyed and suddenly stopped.

That though gave me the creeps. I don't think I could leave this alone. My websites are like babies. They need nurturing and feeding. And I love it. What would I do? With the income I now have I could live comfortably, but nothing extravagant. I could only travel so much with it, and with no growth I would be limited in what I could do. What worries me is that I would have all this time and miss my business.

However, when I really think about it I think I could do it. I would do more of the stuff I like to do. I would travel as much as I could. But could I really stop thinking about the possibilities of making some money off an internet idea? What if I.....   Bottom line, I think I would have a really hard time. But I could do it. One adjusts.

I guess what I am getting to is this: If you are retired, but miss being in the action - well - get back in. There is no reason not to. As long as you enjoy it. As long as family is taken care of. As long as your health allows it.

I do know people that retire and just sit there and do nothing. Bored. Fat. Too bad for them. There is so much to do out there. But me - I will probably work on the internet until the end. Because I love it. I am addicted to it. And it pays the bills.

I will say though that one of my goals is to become totally client-free. All income should come from passive sources. Yes, some TLC and work is needed - but no more dealing directly with people. This way I can indeed take some time off without worrying about things going wrong. In addition, at some point the business is worth money, and when I really can't work it anymore - someone can take over and pay me a royalty or some other arrangement.
