Working after retirement

There is only one thing that will get you search engine traffic to your website. Your site needs to be on the first page of Google, Bing and Yahoo. And with Google's new ranking algorithm called Panda - it is getting more and more difficult to achieve a high Google ranking. Google is cracking down on less-that-useful sites.

But let's assume you have a great site. Lots of unique content, it is well designed and informative. But nowhere to be seen on the first page of Google. Now you have to go to work and get it there. Aside from the design and content, there are basically two ways a site gets to be on the first page. One - links coming in to the site. I use LinxBoss and it works great.

Two - to have a reasonable expectation of success - your keywords need to be two things:

  • Searched on
  • Low competition
You need to know this and pick keywords that meet these conditions. A key phrase with between 100 - 4,000 searches a month is desired - IF the amount of sites showing up in Google for that keyword is less than 3-4,000,000. The higher the searched on number + the lower the competition is - the higher the chance of success.

The software I use is called Rank Tracker. I have used it for years and it is indispensable is both seeing how my sites rank for a specific keyword AND their suggestion feature is just a huge time saver. RankTracker Review

The combination of LinxBoss and Rank Tracker is just awesome.

When I set up a new site I select keywords that have a reasonable change of getting on the first page of Google. I then use RankTracker to pick my top 10-12 key phrases. Then I SEO the site for those keywords, and plug the site into LinxBoss. And wait a few weeks. Pending on how the site odes, I will change keywords, add some or just leave it alone. It works.
